Anaphylaxis is a severe and potentially life-threatening allergic reaction that can develop within minutes. Whether triggered by stinging or biting insects, foods, medications, allergy injections, exercise, or even unknown causes, anaphylaxis requires immediate action—and that often means using an epinephrine auto-injector.
In one of my recent videos on TikTok and Instagram, I showcased three common types of epinephrine auto-injectors you may encounter in an emergency:

1. Auvi-Q
Known for its compact size and unique voice instructions, the Auvi-Q is designed to guide users step-by-step through the injection process. It’s a great option for people who appreciate audible prompts during high-stress situations.
2. EpiPen (by Viatris)
The EpiPen is the most widely recognized brand on the market. Its familiar design and bright color coding make it easy for bystanders or caregivers to identify quickly when every second counts.
3. TEVA Generic Auto-Injector
The TEVA epinephrine auto-injector offers a cost-effective alternative with a similar design and function to the brand-name EpiPen. It’s becoming increasingly common as more people seek affordable options for life-saving medication.
Why This Matters
If you or someone you care for has a known severe allergy, an epinephrine auto-injector is a vital tool—and it’s only effective if people know what it looks like, where it’s stored, and how to use it. Caregivers, teachers, coworkers, coaches, and friends should all be familiar with the device a person carries.
During an emergency, confidence and quick recognition can save a life.
