The staff of the Aurora Regional Fire Museum and DobroSKILLS CPR is looking forward to meeting the students enrolled in the Practical Fire and Life Safety Skills & Pathways in Museums class at the Aurora Regional Fire Museum (53 N. Broadway, Aurora, IL).
Here are some housekeeping items to know before class:
The class starts promptly at 12:00 PM. We ask that you arrive between 11:30 AM and 11:55 AM so you can check in and get yourself settled.
Class will be dismissed at 5:00 PM.
We will have two 10 minute breaks. Meals and snacks are not provided. Please eat lunch beforehand. Please bring your own snacks and drinks that you require.
A parent or guardian is welcome to stay during the class to accompany you.
CPR training is fun, hands-on, and physical activity! You will be kneeling on the floor, bending over mannequins, and practicing active chest compressions. Because of the physical exertion, the classroom can get a bit warm. To ensure you are comfortable and able to participate fully, please keep the following guidelines in mind:
Comfort is key: Wear clothes you can easily move, bend, and kneel in. The training room can get quite warm during practice! So dressing in layers is recommended.
Appropriate coverage: Please choose clothes that provide full coverage while bending forward (avoid midriff-baring, crop tops, low-cut shirts and low rise jeans).
Long hair care: Bring a hair tie or band to keep hair out of your face during compressions. (We have extras on hand if you need one!)
In addition to CPR, AED, and First Aid, we will also spend time learning how to properly utilize a fire extinguisher and explore the role of museums in the community and potential careers.
Access The r.25 First Aid/CPR/AED Participant’s Manual eBook
For your reference, you can download and view the full First Aid/CPR/AED manual. This is not a requirement.
Practical Fire and Life Safety Skills & Pathways in Museums was made possible through the generous support of the Dunham Foundation. If you have any questions please contact the staff of the Aurora Regional Fire Museum or DobroSKILLS CPR. We look forward to meeting you on your scheduled day.
