Are you a high school student looking to boost your resume, gain life-saving skills, and maybe even earn a little extra spending money?
The Practical Fire and Life Safety Skills & Pathways in Museums program is returning to the Historic Aurora Regional Fire Museum! This unique, free initiative blends emergency preparedness with a look behind the scenes at careers in community service and museum management.

Professional Certification:Â Earn a two-year American Red Cross Adult and Child First Aid/CPR/AED certification.

What You’ll Master
In this program, you will gain the confidence to respond to real-world emergencies, including:
Cardiac Arrest:Â Proper CPR techniques for adults and children.
Choking:Â How to clear airways and save lives.
Severe Bleeding:Â Critical first aid for traumatic injuries.
Fire Safety:Â Hands-on training on how to safely operate a fire extinguisher.
Who Is Eligible?
This program is free thanks to a partnership with the Aurora Regional Fire Museum and a generous grant from the Dunham Foundation.
Participants must be current high school students in East Aurora District 131, West Aurora District 129, Naperville Districts 203, Indian Prairie School District 204, Oswego District 308, Batavia District 101, Kaneland District 302, or attend one of the following private schools:
Rosary College Prep
Marmion Academy
Aurora Central Catholic High School
Aurora Christian School
Illinois Math and Science Academy
Dates and Location
Classes are held at the Historic Aurora Regional Fire Museum. You only need to attend one session to complete the training.
