Taking lifesaving care to the next level with this optional skill boost designed to meet your unique needs or desires. Skill boosts can be taught as stand-alone modules to participants that are already Red Cross certified or they can be added to a First Aid/CPR/AED course.
After completing this lesson, participants will be able to:
Define what anaphylaxis is and how it is caused.
Understand the use of epinephrine when providing care for a person experiencing anaphylaxis.
Demonstrate how to administer an epinephrine auto-injector.
Demonstrate how to administer an epinephrine nasal spray (optional).
Describe what an asthma attack is and how to recognize the signs and symptoms.
Understand the role of quick-relief medication in caring for an asthma attack.
Demonstrate how to administer quick-relief medication using an inhaler with a spacer.
Participants must be certified in First Aid and/or CPR or enrolled in an equivalent Red Cross course to take this skill boost.
Participatns who complete the requiments of this course will receive an American Red Cross certifcations in Anaphylaxis and Epinephrine Administration with Asthma and Quick-Relief Medication Administration.

Aurora Regional Fire Museum in Aurora, IL
DobroSKILLS CPR offers American Red Cross–aligned CPR, First Aid, and BLS classes at the Aurora Regional Fire Museum, located in Aurora, Illinois’ historic original Central Fire Station in Downtown Aurora.
The museum is a community-focused space offering public history exhibits, educational programs, and group tours. DobroSKILLS CPR uses the museum’s second-floor meeting space to host public CPR and BLS classes open to the community in a comfortable, professional learning environment.
The Aurora Regional Fire Museum is centrally located in Downtown Aurora, approximately 3.7 miles south of Interstate 88 (Chicago–Kansas City Expressway). Free public parking is available on the east side of the building, making it easy for students traveling from Aurora, Naperville, North Aurora, Montgomery, and surrounding Fox Valley communities.
