Class Description
Practical Fire and Life Safety Skills & Pathways in Museums is an innovative youth education program for high school students that combines life-saving emergency preparedness training with career exploration. This free program is available to students attending high school in the local community.**
Participants will earn a two-year American Red Cross Adult and Child First Aid/CPR/AED certification, learn how to safely use a fire extinguisher, and explore careers in museums and community service institutions. Students will also build a mini first aid kit to take home.
Students will learn how to respond to:
Adult and children who are in cardiac arrest.
Adult and children who are choking.
Emergencies with severe bleeding.
How to care for a suddenly injured or ill person until EMS arrives.
How to use a Fire extinguisher.
This program is free thanks to partnership with the Aurora Regional Fire Museum and a grant from the Dunham Foundation.
