Skill Boost to learn how to administer epinephrine medication and asthma inhalers.
Service Description
After completing this lesson, participants will be able to: • Define what anaphylaxis is and how it is caused. • Understand the use of epinephrine when providing care for a person experiencing anaphylaxis. • Demonstrate how to administer an epinephrine auto-injector. • Demonstrate how to administer an epinephrine nasal spray (optional). • Describe what an asthma attack is and how to recognize the signs and symptoms. • Understand the role of quick-relief medication in caring for an asthma attack. • Demonstrate how to administer quick-relief medication using an inhaler with a spacer. Participants must be certified in First Aid and/or CPR or enrolled in an equivalent Red Cross course to take this skill boost.
