Wilderness and Remote First Aid with CPR

Class Description

Designed for scouts and scout leaders, outdoor enthusiasts and anyone who works or spends time in remote environments, this course teaches advanced skills to be used in emergencies when help from professional first responders may be far away. Based on the Boy Scouts of America Wilderness First Aid Curriculum and Doctrine Guidelines, this course aligns with OSHA’s Best Practices for Workplace First Aid Training Programs.


Topics include:

  • Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED

  • Primary and Secondary Assessments

  • Head/Brain, Neck and Spinal Injuries

  • Heat-Related Emergencies

  • Hypothermia

  • Altitude-Related Illnesses

  • Allergies and Anaphylaxis

  • Burns

  • Bone and Joint Injuries

  • Wounds and Wound Infection


This is a two day course weekend course that goes from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM each day.


This Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED poriton is a Blended Learning Class. This gives students the ability to do most of the training online then attend an in-person session to test their skills. The rest of the class is in-person and is a combination of lecture, discussion and skill practice. 


Participants who successfully complete the online and in-person portions will receive and American Red Cross Certification in Adult & Pediatric CPR/AED r.25 with Wilderness and Remote First Aid.  Certificates are valid for two years and will be issued in about one business day after the in-person class. Certificates are delivered via e-mail and can be found on the Red Cross Website.

Is This Class Right For You?

Designed for scouts and scout leaders, outdoor enthusiasts and anyone who works or spends time in remote environments. Students must be at least 14 years old.


This course is taught indoors and outdoors. Participants should come prepared to work in all weather envrionments during this course and prepared to work on the ground. 


There is also required online pre-work as that is part of the Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED Certifcation.

This class is an American Red Cross Class.

Always check with your employer for certification requirements.

Course Length

The online portion can range from 30 minutes to 3 hours long depending on technology limitations and familiarity with the skills. Participants will receive a training link in an email after they booked a class. Participants must have the online portion completed before coming into the scheduled in-person session. The in-person session is a two day weekend course that takes place from 8 am to 6 pm.

When does enrollment close for you classes?

Enrollment in blended learning class closes when the class is full or within 10 hours of the start time of the in-person skills session.

I lost my certificate. How can I find it?

If you lost your certificate you can find it online at the Red Cross website.
