Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers

BLS class with participants using a BVM and performing chest on an adult manakin.

Online and instructor led training for a two-year certification in American Red Cross Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.

$90.00

Class Description

The goal of the Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers class (BLS) is to ensure that healthcare providers have the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies. The course emphasizes active, hands-on learning and uses scenario activities to help participants learn how to provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve an obstructed airway for adult, child, and infant patients.

This class is a Blended Learning Class which gives students the ability to do most of the training online then attend an in-person session to test their skills.

Online Portion

The online portion can range from 30 minutes to 3 hours long depending on technology limitations and familiarity with the skills. Participants will receive a training link in an email after they booked a class. Participants must have online portion completed before coming into scheduled in-person session.

In-Person Instructor Led Portion

The in-person session is typically 2 hours and 30 minutes to 3 hours long. The in-person session will review:

  • Adult CPR while using an AED and a Bag Valve Mask in a healthcare setting

  • Pediatric CPR using an AED and a Bag Valve Mask in a healthcare setting.

  • First Aid Choking for adults, children and infants.

Classes are open to the general public or can be privately scheduled on-site.

Certificates

Participants who successfully complete the online and in-person portions will receive an American Red Cross Certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers r.21. Certificates are valid for two years and will be issued in about one business day after the in-person class. Certificates are delivered via e-mail and can be found on the Red Cross Website.
